Emmaus is a spiritual retreat : a gift for the soul, a personal encounter with God, and a life-changing experience through the Holy Spirit. It is not just an event, but a journey of faith that deeply transforms each participant.
Our motto is: “Jesus Christ has risen, truly He has risen!” , a proclamation of faith, hope, and unity.
The Emmaus Retreat began in 1978 in the Archdiocese of Miami , at the Dominican Retreat House (MorningStar Renewal Center). It was developed by a team of lay women from St. Louis Parish in Kendall (Pinecrest), Florida, under the leadership of Father David G. Russell , then pastor of the parish, and Myrna Gallagher , Director of Religious Education.
The retreat drew its inspiration from Luke 24:13–35 , the story of the disciples on the Road to Emmaus, and from this Scripture came both its spiritual foundation and its name .
For more than 10 years, the Emmaus Retreats for Women and Men in our community have strengthened the spiritual lives of countless people. As part of this mission, we have created the official retreat shirts , designed for both Walkers and Servers .
These shirts are more than clothing—they are symbols of unity, brotherhood, and the joy of belonging to the Emmaus family.
Support our mission, wear your faith, and walk with others on their spiritual journey.
“Jesus Christ has risen, truly He has risen!”
