Mother of Our Redeemer Catholic Parish

Mother of Our Redeemer Parish was established in 1988 and continues to provide a place of worship for the catholic community of North Miami Lakes. Father Fernando Compaired, pastor- founder, served the parish from 1988 to 2005. The first mass was held at American Senior High School, before moving to a storefront in a local mall. The community contributed to the construction of the Parrish Center that is still used today as a place of gatherings and worship for more than 2,000 families attending seven weekend masses (three in English and four in Spanish). The community is working towards funding the construction of the Main Sanctuary.

In 2002, the parish established an elementary school with students from preschool through third grade. Parishioners added a fourth grade in the fall of 2006. Currently, our school offers quality education in grades Pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade. Students at Mother of Our Redeemer Catholic School receive a Christian education with moral and religious values to shape them into well-balanced men and women in our society.

In 2005, after the retirement of Father Compaired, Father Jaime (Jimmy) Acevedo arrived. As parish priest Father Jimmy served for ten years (2005-2016). At that time the chapel of the Blessed Sacrament was built, which changed the location to where it is today. He named it "Chapel of the Holy Family" and arranged for it to be opened from 7:30am to 9:30pm. He also fostered a great diversity of ministries that contribute to the growth of the spiritual and community life of the parish. In January 2016 Father Acevedo was transferred.

The Most Reverend Archbishop Thomas Wenski assigned Father John P. Hernandez as Parish Administrator in February 2016. He was installed as a pastor in June 2019.  At that time, he consolidated the parish ministries. In the fall of 2019, the parish school basketball court was built.

It is worth noting the efforts and work of many of the parishioners who collaborated with Father Compaired's dream and continued with the priests Father Jimmy Acevedo and Father John P. Hernandez. The community, as St. Paul taught, is a body with many members where Jesus Christ is the Head.

We thank God for the years in which we have been walking together in faith, hope and love at the hand of our priests. We are thankful for the many priests and deacons whom have helped the parish.

We also thank Jesus Christ for bringing forth priestly and religious vocations in our families.
