Mary Help of Christians Catholic Parish
Established in 1989 as the Archdiocese’s 104th parish, Mary Help of Christians continues to serve the surrounding community.
Ethnically diverse worshipers have formed a wide range of ministries within the parish. Parishioners attending the Spanish Mass come from many countries, enriching the church’s spirituality through their diversity.
The 1993 purchase of 11.4 acres led to the construction of a parish center, which was completed, dedicated, and consecrated in 1996. Additional acres were later purchased to establish a grade school.
A preschool, established in 1999, serves families with children from 18 months to 5 years of age. The preschool is accredited and recognized as a Gold Seal Florida School. The elementary school opened in 2000 with 12 students. Just seven years later, enrollment had grown to 413 students in kindergarten through eighth grade.
In 1995, the parish received a grant from the National Council of Catholic Bishops to develop resource materials on creative land stewardship for dioceses and parishes to model. It also received a third-place Broward Beautiful Beautification Award in 1998.
Today, the parish joyfully embraces the next chapter of its faith journey.
