Obra Niña María
“Niña María was born from a dream of love for life. While living in Barrancabermeja, I saw the need of so many mothers who didn’t have the basics to welcome their babies. I felt the call of the Virgin Mary to do something, and that’s how it all began: with a layette, with a prayer, with an act of faith.”
“Today, after 10 years, the mission has expanded to cities in Colombia, Miami, Venezuela, and Calgary. Each layette we deliver is a hug from the Virgin to every baby entering the world. It is not us; it is She who guides this mission.” Liliana A., Founder
In 2026, Niña María Mission joyfully celebrates 10 consecutive years of saying yes to life, following the example of Mary—humble and obedient to God’s call. For a decade, this mission has served as an instrument of love and hope, bringing the Good News through concrete works in support of the most vulnerable.
United with the Church’s call to proclaim the Gospel through action and truth, we carry out our annual campaign to collect newborn baby kits, supporting mothers who have said yes to life and accompanying them in the first steps of this beautiful vocation.
Throughout these years, we have learned that serving also means being formed. For this reason, in 2026 we will hold our Fifth Servant Gathering, focused on deepening spiritual childhood and strengthening the hearts and vocation of those who sustain this mission. Once again, we will be blessed by the presence of religious and lay formators, and we trust this encounter will be a time of growth, renewal, and abundant spiritual fruits.
As a fruit of the exploratory mission carried out in 2024 in collaboration with the Ministry of Charities of SKD in Barrancabermeja, Colombia, this year catechetical spaces will be built for children preparing for First Holy Communion at Parroquia de San Pedro Claver. This new stage, under the name “Niña María – Mission Colombia,” marks a significant expansion of our work, bringing faith formation and accompaniment to more families.
We have also been blessed to support two new “seeds” of the mission in Andagoya (Chocó) and Cali, trusting that the Lord will allow what has been lovingly planted to grow.
We give thanks to God for touching generous hearts year after year—hearts that say yes to His call and allow this mission to reach new places. We also recognize and deeply appreciate the dedication and guidance of priests, religious sisters, and formators who walk alongside this pink flock as spiritual guides and friends.
Our foundation remains firmly rooted in Scripture: “Come, you who are blessed by my Father… For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger, and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.”
(Matthew 25:34–36)
